How to Pick the Right Wood Flooring for Spring

October 1, 2012

The first month of Spring has now officially come to a close, and those with home makeovers and redecorating on the cards between now and Summer, might be left wondering, where do I begin?

For most of us, there’s definitely a right time for doing home makeovers, and that is the Spring time! Spring is the most ideal time of the year to clean the house, do renovations and repairs, or simply decorate. Why you might ask is Spring the most popular time of year to get in and do these makeovers? It could be simply that the past winter may have caused damage or cracks to your home – that could be potentially dangerous to you and the family, or it might just be that the warmer weather has just simply inspired you to get out and get stuff done!

In any case we at Andersens are here to help. And this week, we’re discussing the topic of changing or refurbishing your wooden floors for Spring. Here is a shortlist of ideas on how to pick the right wood flooring for your home:

ReadyFlor American Oak                                     Earth Bamboo

  1. First, you have to identify what you want in wood flooring. There are various types of wooden floors. Engineered wood flooring, for instance, is more stable and solid than the other types. Hence, engineered wood flooring is perfect for families with kids who like running around the home. Meanwhile, if you are looking for style and you have limited budget, you may go for non-wood flooring such as bamboo and cork.
  2. Next, you have to identify the style of wood flooring that you would like to have installed. Look for something that will compliment your home. Besides, you would want to build harmony inside your home. Start it with having designs that work well with each other.
  3. Now, it’s time for you to set your budget. For some people, it makes a lot more sense to set their budget right before they check the available design and style of wood flooring for them. If that works for you, then you can do that. But if you are flexible with your budget, then it may be more practical for you to adjust your budget based on the style and design you have chosen.

Now that you have your budget , design and style all figured out, why not use Andersens iDesign tool to test out if this combination works for your home. Otherwise, we would love to help you out personally at one of our many stores! To contact us and find out your closest store, please visit
